The following are the official “social media” used by Kitsap 911:
Kitsap 911 social media are intended for Kitsap 911 to post selected topics regarding its mission, programs, activities, and news stories, with the public's content intended to be limited to the selected topics Kitsap 911 posts. These Terms of Use (TOU) govern access and use of all Kitsap 911 social media. Posting any content on Kitsap 911 social media constitutes acceptance of the TOU.
Requests for Assistance
Do not use Kitsap 911 social media to report a crime or for emergencies. To report an emergency, call 911.
Limited Public Forums
All Kitsap 911 social media are controlled online sites established, designated, and maintained as limited public forums devoted exclusively to Kitsap 911 content and relevant public comments on the subject matter of the Kitsap 911 original post. Only content that strictly complies with the TOU, as solely determined by Kitsap 911, is permitted.
Third-Party Content
Public comments are important to Kitsap 911 and others who read Kitsap 911 social media. Kitsap 911 requests that posted content be appropriate for and respectful of the diverse population we serve and promotes an inclusive and safe environment for and is tolerant of all participants. The term "content" means any materials, documents, images, videos, recordings, links, chats, and any other information posted, distributed, created, shared, or transmitted using Kitsap 911 social media. Public content does not necessarily reflect the opinions or policies of Kitsap 911. Kitsap 911 is not responsible for and neither endorses nor opposes public content by its actions or inactions related to the public content.
Prohibited Content
Kitsap 911 reserves the right to hide, remove, or delete public content without notice which in its sole discretion contains prohibited content or violates the TOU. The following public content is prohibited:
- Contains a link of any kind or nature, photograph, video, audio recording and/or similar media.
- Is not topically related to the subject matter of the Kitsap 911 original post (off-topic).
- Promotes, endorses, advertises, or solicits business/commerce, including “spam” or other commercial content.
- Supports or opposes candidate(s) for elective office or ballot measures.
- Violates a legal ownership interest of any person or entity (e.g. trademarked or copyrighted material).
- Contains private personal information of any person (e.g. home address, phone number, personal email address, identification numbers, and the like).
- Solicits, promotes, or encourages criminal activity, or violates (intentionally or unintentionally) any law.
- Obscenity (sexually explicit content).
- Promotes, fosters, or perpetuates discrimination on the basis of creed, color, age, religion, gender, marital status, socioeconomic status, national origin, veteran status, physical or mental disability, sexual orientation, or other protected class.
- Contains information that may reasonably compromise the safety or security of Kitsap 911, another person, entity, or the public.
- Contains actual threats of harm to a person, property, or the public.
Assumption of Risk
By posting content on Kitsap 911 social media, you participate at your own risk and are personally responsible for all content you post including without limitation your username and information provided.
Public Records
All content on Kitsap 911 social media is subject to disclosure under the Public Records Act, RCW 42.56.
Legal Notice
Communications sent via social media shall in no way be deemed to constitute legal notice to Kitsap 911, or its employees, where notice is required by law, rule, regulation or contract.
